1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 d6 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Bxf4
{This was an opening I was not familiar with. Things are looking very good for white at the outset.}
6...Bg7 7.Bc4 Nc6 8.a3 O-O 9.d5
{He should be castling, and king safety will come into play.}
9...Na5
{Theory probably says that Ne5 was a better move here. But I wanted to keep pressure on him and he slips up as a result.}
10.Ng5
{All he had to do was move the Bishop back to d3 and remain safe. This cost him the game since he never regained balance.}
10...Nxc4 11.Bc1 Re8 12.Qf3 Bg4 13.Qd3 Ne5 14.Qb5 c6 15.dxc6 bxc6 16.Qb3 d5 17.exd5
{This move let me get off some nasty tactics. I took a long time to think about it and thankfully found the right move.}
17...Nd3+ 18.Kd2 Nxd5
{This was not the best move. Nc5 would have been better. I was trying for mate though and not material.}
19.Nxh7
{From here it's a forced mate. I go astray from it, but there is no recovering for him.}
19...Bh6+ 20.Kxd3 Nb6+ 21.Nd5 Nxd5 22.Bxh6 Nb6+
{He I've lost the mating pattern. Either Nf4+ or Nf6+ would have kept it alive. But, he was done for either way.}

newtym8 vs. LindseyAnn 0-1

[Round "NA"]
[White "newtym8"]

[WhiteELO "1207"]
[BlackELO "1262"]

{Termination "White king mated" Mode "ICS" DateLastMove "2008.11.2" Board "5351249" This is going to be an exciting game, since we both made terrible moves.}
1.d4 d5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.h3 Nc6 4.e3 Bf5 5.g4 Bg6 6.Nf3 Nb4
{Going for the fork here was not the most sound move, unless he falls for it.}
7.a3
{Which he does.}
7...Nxc2+ 8.Ke2 Nxa1 9.Bd2 e6 10.Qxa1 Bd6 11.b4 O-O 12.Nb5 a6 13.Nc3 Qd7
{Since the opening tricks we've both played pretty solid chess. His queenside pawns are pretty strong, but he's very weak on the light squares.}
14.Bg2 Qc6 15.g5 Qc4+ 16.Ke1 a5
{This was my first big blunder. A much larger one is to follow. I always say, you can recover from one but two will kill you. Lucky for me he missed my second.}
17.b5 c6
{And, I think I've just forgotten that the knight is en prise at this point.}
18.Bf1 Qb4
{And there it is. I hung my queen and he doesn't take it. Madness.}
19.gxf6 Qb3 20.bxc6 bxc6 21.Be2
{From this point through most of the rest of the game I have to calculate whether I should take the f6 pawn or what would happen if he took the g7 pawn. It made my life hell and remained a dynamic on the board for way too long.}
21...Bxa3 22.Bd1 Qb4 23.Nxd5 Bb2
{I thought this was a good move. Not so much. After 24. Bxb4 Bxa1 25. Ne7+ Kh8 26. Nxg6+ hxg6 27. Bxf8 and he wins the rook.}
24.Qb1
{I did not even notice that my bishop could take on b1.}
24...Qb5 25.Nc7 Qd3 26.Qxb2
{Now he's won three of my pieces after the initial rook I won, and I can't believe that I ever won this game.}
26...Rab8 27.Qc1 Qe4
{Better was Rb1.}
28.Bc2
{It would have been better here for him to trade the pawns now. Instead he hung the knight and let me make up some lost ground.}
28...Qxf3 29.Rg1 Qxh3
{Here I could have taken that pesky pawn with my queen. But this move does lead to me winning his other knight.}
30.Bc3 Qh2 31.Rf1
{So, my fork wasn't even that great since it could have been refuted with Rg3. But, it wasn't.}
31...Qxc7 32.Ke2 c5 33.Qd2 Rfd8
{And this was yet another blunder. Lets him skewer my Queen and Rook. Let it be said that Matt approved this move.}
34.Bxa5 Qc6 35.Bxd8 Rxd8 36.Ra1
{Taking this rook away from the defense of the king side was not smart and after some crazy checks I could have won the queen, but I ended up mating.}
36...cxd4 37.exd4 gxf6 38.Rc1 Bh5+
{If he moved down or interposed the game went on. If he moved up it was mate in 1.}
39.Ke1 Qh1#
{White king mated. This was a crazy game and we both made some pretty terrible moves. Though I'm not proud of my play, I am proud of the way I held on and pulled it out in the end.}

{With my development finished, I have a slight edge. Although, nobody's made and bad or brilliant moves.}
10...Qb6 11.e5 fxe5 12.dxe5 Bc5
{It would have been better to play Nh6. Even though it puts it on the edge, it allows him to castle and avoid some of the pressure that is put on his king.}
13.Bd3 h6 14.Bg6+ Kd8 15.Rad1 Ne7 16.Bf7 Rf8 17.Bxe6 Rxf4

25.Nb6+
{And I made a mistake here. Better would have been Nxf4, trading down with a lead in material.}
25...Kc7 26.Na8+ Kb8 27.Nb6
{I think Kc7 would have either forced me to concede some of my advantage or force a draw by three fold rep. But, he messes up.}

8.Qb5+ Bd7 9.Nxf7 Kxf7
{It would have been better to trade queens here. After 9...Bxb5 10. Nxd7 Bxc4 11. Ne6 Bxd5 I'm up a pawn and a bishop and I'm attacking the g2 pawn. I was not thinking that far ahead, and I just wanted to take the knight straight away.}

{This move lets me win the knight and retain my ablilty to castle.}
8.Kg1 Qxf7 9.d3 Bc5 10.Be3 Bd6 11.f3 Nf6 12.Kf2 O-O
{Ng4+ was slightly better here. It would have allowed me to simplify, but I was trying to get as many pieces as I could pressuring his king.}

{Once again, Ng4+ was the best move.} 15.Rh1 Be5 16.f4 Nxe3 {This was not the best move, but it caused a flood of pieces that he could not recover from.}

I'm not going to bother annotating this one. It's pretty obvious what happened. I hung my queen early in the game, then I hung my knight a little later. It wasn't worth fighting for. But, I'm beating him in our other game right now.
